Softball takes two losses at UWF
Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 PENSACOLA, Fla. – The Spring Hill College (SHC) softball team suffered losses of 6-0 and 5-0 to the University of West Florida (UWF) Argonauts in a non-conference doubleheader at the UWF Softball Field on Wednesday afternoon.
 
The Argonauts (22-8) used a five runs in the 4th inning to hand Badger starter Danielle Clark (15-7) the loss in 3.2 innings of work with nine hits allowed, a walks and one strike out. Spring Hill collected four hits against Becca Taylor (11-5) who earned the shutout with no walks allowed and six strike outs.
 
In the second game, UWF put single runs on the board in the 1st, 4th and 5th frames along with a pair of runs in the 3rd inning to take the 5-0 victory. Starter Katelyn Wilson (5-4) took the loss in just one inning with two hits, a walk and a strike out while Sarah Maloney (6-2) completed the shut out with seven hits, three walks and eight strike outs.
 
At the plate, SHC first baseman Madeline Burchell had three hits on the day while Wilson, shortstop Carmen Byrd and second baseman Bayleigh Anders each collected a pair of hits in the twin bill.
 
The Badgers (23-11, 11-0 SIAC) travel to Jackson, Tenn., on Saturday to face SIAC opponent the Lane College Dragons (13-5, 5-3 SIAC) in a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
