Badgers halt Marauders, 78-54
Box Score The Spring Hill College (SHC) men's basketball team cruised to a 78-54 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) West Division victory over the Central State University (CSU) Marauders in the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center on Saturday evening.
 
The Marauders (7-15, 4-8 SIAC West) trailed the Badgers 44-27 at halftime and by as much as 70-43 with 7:08 remaining on the game clock.
 
Four Badgers reached double-digits in scoring with junior Walter Massey leading the way with 18 points and junior guard Jack Morrissey close on his heels with 17 points. Freshman Gresyn Rogers added 11 points and sophomore forward Chase Shellman contributed 10 points. SHC shot a robust 56.9% (29-51) from the floor including an even 50% (10-20) from 3-point distance. Turnovers continued to be an issue for Spring Hill as the Badgers lost 19 turnovers to 10 steals by CSU, but they helped themselves with a commanding 39-26 margin in rebounding.
 
CSU shot 34.5% (20-58) from the field and 18.2% (4-22) from 3-point range while fumbling away 15 turnovers to four Badger steals. Dwight Richards led the Marauders with 13 points while Jeremy Brown added 12 points. Both teams were 10-of-15 (.667) from the free throw line.
 
The Badgers (6-17, 5-7 SIAC West) next host SIAC West Division foe the Kentucky State University Thorobreds (7-12, 5-6 SIAC West) at 7:30 p.m. Monday in the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center.
