Badgers sweep KSU 9-0, 4-0 to open SIAC play
Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 The Spring Hill College (SHC) softball team opened the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) portion of its 2017 schedule with a doubleheader sweep of the Kentucky State University (KSU) Thorobrettes by the scores of 9-0 and 4-0 at Murray Field on Saturday afternoon.
 
Sophomore Danielle Clark (7-2) pitched the Badgers to a 9-0 5-inning victory in the opener with a complete-game one-hitter and allowing just two walks with eight strike outs. Freshman Baylie Doiron (1-0) earned her first collegiate win with a complete-game two-hitter with four walks and 10 strike outs in the night cap.
 
The Thorobrettes (0-4, 0-2 SIAC West) Brittney Gately collected both hits for the visitors from Frankfort in the second game while Kaija Aikman (0-1) took the loss in the opening contest with six hits, four walks and no strike outs in three innings and Courtney Payne (0-1) was saddled with the loss in the night cap going the distance with five hits, three walks and no strike outs.
 
Spring Hill (10-4, 2-0 SIAC West) and KSU will finish this three-game series with a single game on Sunday at 12 p.m. on Murray Field.
