Spring Hill plucks Warhawks, 86-66
Box Score The Spring Hill College (SHC) women's basketball team rolled to an 86-66 non-conference win over the Auburn University at Montgomery (AUM) Warhawks at the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center on Friday evening.
 
The Warhawks (5-18) fell behind 24-9 to start the 2nd period and trailed the Badgers 43-22 going into halftime after falling into a 26-point hole at 39-13 with 3:42 remaining in the 2nd period.
 
Spring Hill came out sluggish to open the 3rd period as AUM sliced the lead down to 16 points at 49-33 with five minutes gone in the quarter, but SHC responded to rebuild a 21-point cushion three minutes later and the Warhawks would draw no closer.
 
Freshman guard Elise Reilly scored 13 points as fellow freshman forward Katie Krout came off the bench to add another 13 points to the Badger totals. Junior guard Jewel Hill contributed 10 points in a balanced Badger offensive attack. Senior forward Camry Johnson had nine points and nine rebounds to lead the Badgers to a dominating 48-28 victory in rebounding.
 
The Badgers connected on 51.4% (37-72) of their overall shots and 33.3% (5-15) from 3-point land. SHC committed 13 turnovers in the face of seven steals by the AUM defense.
 
Kaylan Withrow paced AUM with 24 points and Nadia Stewart added 15 points for the Warhawks. The Warhawks shot 38.2% (21-55) overall and 31.3% (5-16) from 3-point distance. AUM lost 10 turnovers to four SHC steals.
 
The Badgers (13-9, 7-5 SIAC West) now take a week off before beginning a three-game conference road swing that starts at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 16, in Memphis, Tenn., versus the LeMoyne-Owen College Lady Magicians (5-19, 4-8 SIAC West) at Bruce Hall Gymnasium.
