JACKSON, Miss. –The Spring Hill College (SHC) women's basketball team lost a 77-50 exhibition decision to NCAA Division I member the Jackson State University Tigers in the Lee E. Williams Athletics and Assembly Center on Tuesday night.
The Tigers (4-1) held a 17-10 lead after the first quarter of play and extended the bulge to 41-25 by halftime.

Tiffany Valentine each scored 10 points for the Badgers with Valentine adding nine rebounds.
As a team, SHC shot 32.8% (21-64) from the floor and just 17.6% (3-17) from 3-point range. The Badgers lost 26 turnovers to the Tigers whose high-pressure defense took away 17 steals resulting in 25 points off turnovers.
For JSU, Derica Wiggins scored a game-high 16 points to lead three Tigers who surpassed the double-digit mark in scoring. Jackson State made 38.2% (34-89) of their shots from the field, but also struggled at long distance, knocking down just 11.1% (2-18) from beyond the 3-point line. The Tigers suffered 18 turnovers against seven steals by the Badgers to cost themselves just 12 points off turnovers. JSU pulled in an impressive 64 rebounds including 33 on offense that they converted into 33 second chance points while SHC took in 40 rebounds with 13 on offense for just seven second chance points.
The Badgers (5-1, 0-0 SIAC) next open the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) portion of their schedule on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. at the Miles College Golden Bears (2-3, 0-1 SIAC) at Knox-Windham Gymnasium in Fairfield, Ala.
