Badgers fall 91-75 at Rams
MOBILE, Ala. – The Spring Hill College (SHC) men's basketball team accepted a 91-75 non-conference loss to the University of Mobile Rams at H. Austill Pharr Gymnasium on Monday night.
 
The Rams (3-4) held a 44-38 bulge to open the second half, but used a 16-3 spurt over the four minutes of the period to build out a 19-point cushion at 60-41 and never looked back. SHC would close the gap to 14 points at 12:49 with two free throws by Chase Shellman, but Mobile would hold as much as a 25-point advantage at 81-56 with 4:01 remaining.
 
Junior Brandon Fischer scored a game-high 25 points for the Badgers while Dwight Harris added 11 and senior guard Matevz Rojc came off the bench to contribute another 10 points.
 
As a team, SHC shot 46.7% (21-45) from the field and 41.7% (5-12) from 3-point range. The Badgers suffered 18 turnovers versus six steals by UM while making 28-of-37 free throw attempts for a 75.7% showing at the charity stripe.
 
The Rams shot 47.5% (28-59) overall and 38.9% (7-18) from 3-point distance while losing 14 turnovers to four Badger steals. Tyler Williams paced the Rams offense with 21 points as four Mobile player reached the double-digit mark in scoring. UM earned a 34-29 victory in rebounding while making 82.4% (28-34) of their free throws.
 
The Badgers (2-3, 0-0 SIAC) will next open their Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) schedule on Thursday night in Fairfield, Ala., at the Golden Bears (1-6, 0-2 SIAC) of Miles College beginning at 7:30 p.m. at Knox-Windham Gymnasium.
