SHC women slide past Clark Atlanta 78-74
Box Score The Spring Hill College (SHC) women's basketball team rallied from a 39-33 halftime deficit to take a 78-74 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) home victory over the Clark Atlanta University (CAU) Panthers at the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center on Thursday evening.

Both teams came out firing to open the game as the Badgers and the Panthers (6-10, 2-5 SIAC East) were knotted at 17 after the 1st period, but CAU controlled the tempo of the 2nd quarter earning a 22-16 advantage in the frame.

SHC got hot coming out of the locker rooms and scored the first 10 points of the 3rd quarter to grab a 44-39 lead with just three minutes off the clock. The Badgers maintained a 1- to 2-point lead for the next five minutes by finding answering shots to every CAU challenge. Spring Hill would then build out a 61-54 cushion over the final two minutes of the period as freshman guard Elise Reilly hit a 3-pointer that was followed by layups from senior forward Brittney Davis and senior center Leah Washington.

The Panthers would not back down in the 4th quarter and rallied over the game's last three minutes to cut the SHC advantage down to a single point on three occasions with the final time coming at the 51-second mark off a put-back lay-up by Marissa Mandeldove to make it a 75-77 SHC lead. Junior guard Jennifer Clark then found a breaking Washington with a bounce pass into the lane for a lay-up with 25 seconds on the clock to give SHC the 77-74 lead. CAU would miss a game-tying 3-point shot at 13 seconds and senior forward Camry Johnson came down the game's most important rebound. Reilly would then ice the game with 1-of-2 free throws with two seconds remaining

Spring Hill shot 46% (29-63) from the floor including a 38.9% (7-18) performance from 3-point distance. Reilly paced the Badgers with 18 points as Washington and Johnson added 15 points each. SHC out-rebounded the Panthers 43-25, but lost 20 turnovers to 12 Panther steals.

Lauren Turner came off the bench to lead the Panthers with a game-high 19 points while Mandeldove and Sydni Davis each contributed 16 points. CAU lost 16 turnovers to nine SHC steals.
