Box Score The Spring Hill College (SHC) men's basketball team saw a 7-point lead evaporate over the final eight minutes of play as Clark Atlanta University (CAU) rallied to win a 73-70 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) decision over the Badgers at the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center on Thursday night.

The Panthers (11-7, 5-2 SIAC East) and the Badgers were tied 37-37 at the halftime intermission, but the Badgers opened the 2
nd half with a 3-pointer by freshman
Gresyn Rogers and a dunk by junior
Walter Massey to wrangle a 42-37 lead with less than two minutes off the clock. CAU rallied to cut the lead down to a single point on two occasions over the next six minutes, but the Badgers responded to every Panther challenge to maintain a 4- to 5-point lead.

At 8:46, a lay-up by sophomore
Brandon Fischer gave the Badgers their largest lead of the game, but from that point the Panthers began to whittle away at the SHC advantage. Damien Davis of CAU connected on two free throws with 55 seconds remaining to make it just a 70-69 Badger lead. At the 23-second mark, Panther guard Derek Harper came down with a missed Badger lay-up and fed a pass to Tim Sanders who missed the lay-up on the other end only to have Harper clean up the offensive rebound with a put-back off the backboard and hand CAU a 71-70 lead with nine seconds showing. Following a missed Badger jumper with one second remaining, CAU would later add two free throws with 4/10 of a second on the clock to secure the win.

Massey and Rogers both scored 13 points for Spring Hill as Fischer added 12 points. SHC shot 49% (25-51) from the field and 42.9% (6-14) from 3-point distance while losing 17 turnovers to six CAU steals. The Badgers earned a 44-34 margin in rebounding.

Clark Atlanta shot 32.8% (21-64) from the floor and 33.3% (13-39) from 3-point range while suffering just eight turnovers to three Badger steals. Five Panthers reach double digits in scoring led by Harper's game-high 18 points.

The Badgers (3-15, 2-5 SIAC West) will wrap up this four-game home stand by hosting the Morehouse College Maroon Tigers (9-5, 3-3 SIAC East) at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday at the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center.
