Box Score The Spring Hill College (SHC) men's basketball team lost an 88-72 decision to Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) foe Benedict College (BC) at the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center on Saturday evening.

The Tigers (8-7, 5-2 SIAC East) jumped out to a 14-2 lead just four minutes into the game and built out as much as a 27-point lead at 43-18 with 4:51 remaining before halftime.

In the second half, SHC rallied to cut the deficit down to 51-33 with 14 minutes left, but BC would rebuild and maintain a 20- to 25-point cushion until the final 30 seconds of play.

Gresyn Rogers scored 15 points off the bench for Spring Hill as
William Loyd and
Walter Massey contributed 13 and 11 points respectively. SHC shot 49% (25-51) from the field and 30.8% (4-13) from 3-point distance while losing 13 turnovers to five BC steals.

Benedict shot a stellar 54.5% (30-55) from the floor and a blazing 56.3% (9-16) from 3-point range while suffering 10 turnovers to four Badger steals. Quayshun Hawkins poured in 31 points for BC while Brandon Morris added 18 and Kel Robin had 15 points. BC also out-rebounded the Badgers 30-25 under the baskets.

The Badgers (3-13, 2-3 SIAC West) will host the Claflin University Panthers (10-4, 5-1 SIAC East) at 7:30 p.m. on Monday at the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center.
