Badgers fall 9-2 at Lady Argos
Box Score PENSACOLA, Fla. – The Spring Hill College (SHC) softball team lost a 9-2 non-conference road decision to the University of West Florida (UWF) Lady Argos at the UWF Softball Complex on Wednesday afternoon.

Spring Hill took an early 1-0 lead in the 1st inning off Lady Argos (30-11) starter Kalyn Chapman (14-5) when a passed ball slipped by catcher Caitlyn Steel to bring in Badger center fielder Jenna Charnock who had reached base with a triple to left.

The Argos tied the game in the bottom of the 1st inning when a bases-loaded double play attempt resulted in the out at home, but a wild throw to 1st base brought in Meghan Toney from 2nd base. UWF went ahead 2-1 after a single by Jacey Castro found the chalk on the left field line to plate Rhiannon Sassman.

Badger 3rd baseman Rene Kausin singled in catcher Kali Clement to knot the game at 2-2 in the top of the 4th inning, but a bases-load wild pitch by senior starter Caroline Sagrera (17-8) put UWF back on top 3-2 in the bottom of the frame. Sassman then put the Argos up 5-2 two pitches later with a two-run triple to deep right field. The UWF lead would grow to 7-2 in the inning off a single to left-center and an infield throwing error that each scored runs.

Sagrera went 3.1 innings with seven hits, five walks and four strike outs in the loss while Chapman earned the win in five innings with two hits, three walks and two strike outs.

Sassman picked up two hits with three RBI for the home-standing Argos to pace the offenses of both teams.

Spring Hill (28-14) will next host the LeMoyne-Owen College (LOC) Lady Magicians (2-13, 2-13 SIAC) in a single Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) game on Friday at 4 p.m. on Friday at Murray Field.
