Softball improves to 18-0 in SIAC play with DH sweep of Lady Magicians
Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 The Spring Hill College (SHC) softball team improved to 18-0 in conference play on Saturday by sweeping a Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) doubleheader away from the visiting LeMoyne-Owen College Lady Magicians at Murray Field.
 
In the first game, freshman Danielle Clark (9-6) pitched a one-hit shutout with no walks and 11 strike outs while senior Caroline Sagrera (19-8) picked up her ninth shutout and 22nd complete-game of the year in the nightcap as she struck out 10 Magicians and allowed four hits with no walks.
 
On offense, the Badgers were led by first baseman Madeline Burchell with three hits including a home run and six RBI. Catcher Kali Clement also tallied two hits and three RBI. Other big bats on the day for SHC included shortstop Carmen Byrd and center fielder Jenna Charnock with three hits and an RBI each, second baseman Lauren Stewart with three hits including a double, and senior left fielder Taylor Lahasky with a walk-off, two-run homer to end the first game via the 8-run Mercy Rule in the bottom of the 5th inning.
 
For the Lady Magicians (2-18, 2-16 SIAC), LaNisha Perry took the loss in the opener by giving up nine hits with four walks and just one strike out while LaRaya Fisher suffered the loss in the second game with 12 hits, six walks and a strike out. First baseman Erin Lincoln notched a double versus Sagrera in Game Two.
 
Spring Hill (31-14, 18-0 SIAC) will now travel to Birmingham to start a three-game conference set versus the Miles College Lady Bears beginning with a 1 p.m. doubleheader on Sunday followed by a single game on Monday at 1 o'clock.
