Badger softball makes an early exit from GCI Gold Bracket play
Box Score GULF SHORES, Ala. – The Spring Hill College (SHC) softball team lost 7-2 to the Campbellsville University (CU) Tigers in the first round of Gold Bracket play in the Gulf Coast Invitational (GCI) Tournament at the Sportsplex on Sunday.

Badger starter Caroline Sagrera (7-7) allowed six runs off five hits, three hit batters, no walks and five strike outs before surrendering the circle to Danielle Clark who finished the final two innings with two hits, no walks and a strike out.

SHC actually out hit the Tigers (10-4) by a 12-7 margin, but CU shortstop Jacqueline Roof slapped a three-run double in the 2nd inning and added a two-run home run out of center in the 4th frame to put the Badgers in a 6-0 hole from which they could not recover.

Badger centerfielder Jenna Charnock had three hits in the game while right fielder Katelyn Wilson drove in both SHC runs with a single to left in the bottom of the 7th inning. Catcher Kali Clement and third baseman Rene Kausin each roped a pair of singles on the afternoon.

Spring Hill (12-10) will next face the Central Methodist University Eagles (8-6) at 12 p.m. on Tuesday at the University of Mobile Softball Field.
