Box Score JACKSON, Tenn. – The Spring Hill College (SHC) women's basketball team came away with a 57-51 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) West Division road victory over the Lane College (LC) Lady Dragons at J. F. Lane Gymnasium on Monday evening.

The Badger jumped out to a big 23-9 lead over the Lady Dragons (3-19, 3-10 SIAC West) at the end of the first period and maintained 33-20 advantage at halftime.

SHC kept Lane at arm's length for most of the second half and took a 44-31 lead into the 4th period, but Lane refused to quit and whittled the Badger advantage down to 49-42 with five minutes left to play in the game.

The high pressure defense of the Lady Dragons began to wear away at the SHC offense and soon the lead was down to 54-51 with less than a minute to play, but Spring Hill would contact on three-of-four free throws sandwiched around two failed 3-point attempts  by Lane to secure the 57-51 victory.

Three Badgers reached double-digits in scoring led by junior center Leah Washington with 17 points and junior forward Camry Johnson with 15 points and 14 rebounds. Alishia DraytonLewis pitched in 11 points and seven rebounds. SHC shot 37.5% (18-48) overall and 25% (2-8) in 3-point attempts and controlled the boards with a 57-51 advantage in rebounding. Turnovers continued to be a problem for the Badger offense, however, as SHC lost 18 fumbles against 10 steals by Lane.

The Lady Dragons were paced by Kyana Johnson with 17 points as Lane shot just 28.1% (16-57) from the field and made none of their five 3-point attempts. Lane lost 10 turnovers as SHC took away five steals.

The Badgers (9-14, 7-7 SIAC West) will return home for an SIAC match versus the LeMoyne-Owen College Lady Magicians (6-15, 4-9 SIAC West) on Monday beginning at 5:30 p.m.
