Box Score WILBERFORCE, Ohio – The Spring Hill College (SHC) men's basketball team lost a 57-50 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) road decision to the Central State University (CSU) Marauders at Beacom/Lewis Gym on Thursday night.

After trailing by as much as 11 points in the first half, Spring Hill rallied to hold a 26-25 lead over the Marauders (7-11, 6-7 SIAC West) at halftime. Five minutes into the second half SHC held a 35-31 advantage, but the Marauders had whittled the Badger lead down to 38-37 at 11:10 remaining.

Jeremy Brown of CSU found the bottom of the net with a jumper at 10:08 left on the clock to hand the Marauders back the lead at 39-38. The CSU bulge had grown to 43-38 with 7:48 to play. Badger guard Wesley Pietri cut down the lane for a layup at 6:30 to tie the game at 43-43, but less than two minutes later CSU would be back up by four points at 49-43.

CSU maintained a 51-45 advantage with 2:45 left to play, but Pietri was successful on a layup and freshman guard Sawyer Glick drained a 3-point bucket to make it a 51-50 game with 1:30 to play. Brown made 1-of-2 free throws for the Marauders with 1:21 remaining and SHC failed to beat the five-second count on the subsequent in-bounds play as CSU held a 52-50 lead with 1:04 showing.

Tom Johnson the Marauders made two free throws with 22 seconds left and Badger senior guard Jarrett Calhoun failed on a 3-point attempt with 10 seconds remaining. Johnson would then add two more free throws with four seconds on the clock.

Pietri led the Badgers with 16 points and eight rebounds while Glick added 12 points for the visitors. SHC shot 40% (20-50) from the floor and 23.8% (5-21) from 3-point distance. Spring Hill lost 20 turnovers to 12 Marauder steals that resulted in 11 points off turnovers for the home team.

CSU shot 34% (18-53) from the floor and made just one of their 16 3-point attempts for 6.3% from long distance. Sterling Gilmore scored 14 points for the Marauders as CSU also earned a 38-34 victory in rebounding. Central State lost 11 turnovers to four Badger steals.

The Badgers (7-14, 6-7 SIAC West) will continue their current road tour in Frankfort, Ky., on Saturday with an SIAC West Division contest at the Kentucky State University Thorobreds (9-8, 7-5 SIAC West) in the Exum Center at 5 p.m.
