Badger ladies fall to Central State, 66-64
Box Score The Spring Hill College (SHC) women's basketball team suffered a 66-64 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) West Division loss to the Central State University (CSU) Lady Marauders at the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center on Thursday evening.

The Lady Marauders (11-12, 7-9 SIAC West) trailed the Badgers 37-26 at half, but turned up the defensive pressure in the second half to tie the game at 51-51 with 9:47 left on the clock and wrested away the lead for the first time at 54-53 at 8:16.

CSU built out as much as a 5-point lead at 58-53 with 6:15 remaining, but SHC recaptured a 64-62 lead with 58 seconds to go. Meshia Smith made a 3-point bucket for Central State with 48 seconds on the clock and then SHC missed a layup and 3-point attempt with under 30 seconds to go. Destinee Russell of CSU made 1-of-2 free throws with 15 seconds showing as a final SHC shot at 2 seconds was unsuccessful.

SHC forward Camry Johnson led all scorers with 13 points. Alishia DraytonLewis tallied a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds while center Leah Washington also scored 11 points and guard Jennifer Clark pitched in 10 points.  SHC shot 33.3% (18-54) from the floor and 42.9% (6-14) from 3-point distance, but lost 24 turnovers to 10 CSU steals resulting in 21 points for the visitors from Ohio. Spring Hill controlled the boards with a 52-31 margin in rebounding.

For CSU, Brianye' Copeland had 12 points as Sierra Harley and Ghameerah McCullers each added 10 points. The Lady Marauders shot 42.2% from the field and 25% (2-8) from 3-point range while losing 11 turnovers to five Badger steals that turned into 16 points for the home team.

The Badgers (10-15, 8-8 SIAC West) will wrap up the 2015-2016 season on Saturday by hosting the Kentucky State University Lady Thorobrettes (19-3; 13-2 SIAC West) beginning at 5:30 p.m. in the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center. Following the game, Spring Hill will honor their Senior Class teammates with the annual Senior Day ceremony.
