Badger women outshine Lady Magicians, 69-52
Box Score The Spring Hill College (SHC) women's basketball team won a 69-52 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) West Division victory over the LeMoyne-Owen College (LOC) Lady Magicians on Monday evening.

The Lady Magicians (6-17, 4-11 SIAC West) fell behind 20-9 in the first period, but bounced back to trail the Badgers by just two points at 27-25 going into halftime.

With 7:52 to go in the fourth period Teresa Mays of LOC drained a 3-point bucket to tie the game at 43-43, but the Badgers would find another gear in the final five minutes and stretch out as much as a 16-point advantage with 1:50 left when senior guard Natalie Harper sank a 3-point shot from the left side to make it a 62-46 contest.

Badger point guard Jennifer Clark handed out 12 assists in the game while scoring 10 points and forward Camry Johnson also tallied a double-double performance with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Spring Hill dominated the boards 45-33 in the rebounding category, but lost 21 turnovers to 10 steals by the LOC defense, leading to 26 points by the visitors from Memphis, Tenn.

Spring Hill shot a healthy 46.2% (24-52) from the floor and 45% (9-20) from 3-point range while completing 85.7 (12-14) of their trips to free throw line.

The Lady Magicians were led by Rachel Hughes with 11 points and 15 rebounds while Mays and Crystal Shields each added 12 points. LOC shot 29.5% (18-61) from the field including just 18.2% (2-11) in 3-point shooting. LeMoyne-Owen made only 56% (14-25) from the charity stripe and also lost 14 turnovers to two Badger steals.

The Badgers (10-14, 8-7 SIAC West) will host the Central State University Lady Marauders (10-12, 6-9 SIAC West) on Thursday beginning at 5:30 p.m.
