Loyola rallies past Badger ladies, 68-57
Box Score The Spring Hill College (SHC) women's basketball team accepted a 68-57 non-conference loss to Jesuit rival the Loyola University (La.) Wolf Pack at the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center on Friday evening.
 
The Wolf Pack (9-2) rallied from a 7-point shortfall at the end of the 1st quarter by turning a 19-12 Badger lead into a 32-29 Loyola advantage going into halftime.
 
In the 3rd quarter, Loyola quickly built out a 37-29 margin after just two minutes of play and maintained a 55-47 cushion heading to the final 10 minutes. With 4:37 remaining on the clock, Loyola held their largest lead of the game at 62-50 and would keep the Badgers at a double-digit disadvantage for the remainder of the night.
 
Spring Hill shot 36.5% (23-63) from the floor and 21.4% (3-14) from 3-point distance, but out-rebounded Loyola 46-28 with 22 offensive boards to outscore the visitors from New Orleans 15-4 on second chance points. Turnovers continued to haunt the Badgers as they suffered 27 fumbles to 16 steals by Loyola while taking away 16 turnovers with 10 steals. As a result, Loyola earned a crucial 30-15 advantage in points off turnovers.
 
Senior forward Alishia DraytonLewis led SHC with 14 points and junior guard Jewel Hill scored another 12 points for the Badgers while senior forward Camry Johnson hauled in a game-high 11 rebounds. Loyola would shoot 44.7% (21-47) overall and 23.1% (3-13) from long distance while knocking down 69.7% (23-33) of their free throws. Junior guard Zoie Miller of the Wolf Pack led all scorers with 24 points and senior guard Kylah Jones contributed 13 points.
 
Spring Hill (2-3) will next visit arch-rivals the University of Mobile Lady Rams (3-2) on Saturday at 5 p.m. for a non-conference game in H. Austill Pharr Gymnasium.
