Eagles soar past Badgers, 88-53
Box Score The Spring Hill College (SHC) men's basketball team suffered an 88-53 non-conference home loss to the Williams Baptist College (WBC) Eagles on Saturday night at the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center.
 
The Eagles (5-5) grabbed a 32-point lead late in the 1st half and took a 51-22 cushion into the locker rooms at halftime. Spring Hill cut the deficit down to 63-44 at 10 minutes into the 2nd half, but WBC would hold as much as a 39-point advantage with 1:35 remaining on the clock.
 
Jack Morrissey paced the Badgers with 11 points as SHC shot 33.3% (19-57) on the night and was 26.3% (5-19) from 3-point range. The Badger lost 21 turnovers to 12 steals by the Eagles and were out-rebounded 40-28 under the baskets.
 
EJ Rucker scored 24 points for the Eagles and Allen Buchanan added 12 points with Demoine Brown contributing 10 points. WBC lost 11 turnovers to five Badger steals, but shot an impressive 56.1% (37-66) from the floor and 31.8% (7-22) from beyond the arc.
 
The Badgers (1-10) will next take a short drive down Old Shell Road on Monday to face the NCAA Division I University of South Alabama (USA) Jaguars (6-3) in an exhibition contest at 7:35 p.m. in the USA Mitchell Center.
