Box Score The Spring Hill College (SHC) women's basketball team stopped their recent three-game losing slide with a 56-46 win over long time non-conference rivals the William Carey University Lady Crusaders at the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center on Monday evening.

Spring Hill jumped out to an early 17-3 lead in a dominate 1
st-quarter performance and held a 30-13 lead over the Lady Crusaders (3-4) at halftime. Carey valiantly fought back in the 2
nd half outscoring the Badgers 15-10 in the 3
rd quarter and 18-16 in the 4
th frame, but could get no closer than eight points at 36-28 with two minutes remaining in the 3
rd period as SHC found ways to stop the rally at each juncture.

Senior forward
Alishia DraytonLewis led the Badgers with 15 points and nine rebounds while junior guard
Jewel Hill added 11 points. The Badgers shot 51% (25-49) from the field and 16.7% (1-6) from 3-point distance while losing 28 turnovers to 14 steals by Carey.

Carey won the battle under the backboards with 38 rebounds to 29 boards for SHC, but lost 25 turnovers to 15 Badger steals. Jada Jones scored 12 points to pace WCU as the Lady Crusaders shot 31.5% (17-54) from the floor and 16.7% (3-18) from beyond the arc. Both team scored 21 points off their opponents' miscues, but SHC earned a 40-24 margin on scoring in the paint.

Spring Hill (3-4) will next travel to Raleigh, N.C., to face the Shaw University Lady Bears (2-7) on Thursday at 6 p.m. (EDT) for a non-conference tilt at C.C. Spaulding Gymnasium.
