Both teams struggled in the first minute, but a fast break layup and a 3-pointer put the Lady Rams (4-2) up 5-0 just two minutes into the game. The SHC deficit grew to 12-2 by the five-minute mark with UMobile allowing SHC just five shots from the field. Junior Badger guard Jennifer Clark then made two consecutive 3-point buckets followed by a fast break basket to make it a 12-10 contest and senior center Leah Washington tied the game at 12-12 with three minutes left in the 1st quarter.

Mobile switched to a full court press to open the 2nd quarter and quickly tied the game at 18-18, but Washington found the basket again after Clark drew the defenders to her on a drive and dished off to her waiting center. Clark answered a Mobile jumper with a 3-pointer on the other end with seven left in the half, but the Lady Rams would use a successful hoop-and-the-harm 3-point play to retake a 26-24 lead at 6:21.

Washington used a jumper and an alert lay in for a put-back basket late in the half, but free throws by Mobile gave the home team a 34-32 lead at intermission.

Mobile would rally to tie the game at 42-42 with a 3-pointer at 3:30, but SHC would break a Mobile press with a Clark to Washington layup at 2:24 to put the Badgers back up 45-42.

The Lady Rams got hot to open the 4th period and took a 49-47 lead only to see the Badgers tie the game at 49-49 and 51-51 as Washington hit on a jumper and a layup at the seven- and six-minute marks. Mobile built out a 57-53 cushion with an inside layup at 4 minutes and led 62-59 with 20 second remaining. Senior forward Camry Johnson of SHC came down with a rebound of a Mobile shot and called timeout, but the Rams would steal the ball following a Badger in-bounds play and complete 1-of-2 free throws with 5 seconds showing for the final score of 63-59.
