Box Score The Spring Hill College (SHC) men's basketball team clawed out a 71-59 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) victory over the Fort Valley State University (FVSU) Wildcats on Thursday night at the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center.

The Wildcats (2-10, 0-5 SIAC East) trailed the Badgers 36-29 at the intermission as SHC redshirt freshman guard Sawyer Glick scored 13 points in the first 20 minutes on a 3-for-6 effort from 3-point range.

Spring Hill came out of the halftime locker rooms hot and raced out to a 44-32 advantage with 15 minutes left in the game, but the Wildcats fought back to take a 51-50 lead off a layup by Dareial Franklin with eight minutes to go. Sophomore Badger guard Walter Massey then woke up the faltering SHC offense with a strong inside move and a rim-rattling dunk at 7:41 to reclaim a 52-51 lead.

From there, the Badger used a clutch 16-0 run over the next six minutes to salt away the victory.

Freshman forward Chase Shellman paced the Badgers with 18 points as Glick ended the night with 15 points and Massey pitched in 10 points with eight rebounds. The Badgers shot a combined 48.2% (27-56) from the field including 29.4% (5-17) from 3-point distance. Spring Hill earned a 43-30 victory in rebounding, but suffered 15 turnovers against six steals by the Wildcats.
