Box Score AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Spring Hill College (SHC) men's basketball team rallied over the final two minutes of play to earn a 72-69 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) inter-divisional road victory over the Paine College Lions in the HEAL Complex on Monday night.
Spring Hill took an early 8-2 advantage just four minutes into the first half, but the Lions (4-9, 1-2 SIAC East) rallied to grab an 18-16 lead with 7:48 left in the opening period and maintained a 24-22 edge at the 3:55 mark.
Paine opened the second half with a 38-32 cushion and continued to lead 53-49 with 7:41 left on the clock, but the Badgers fought back to tie the score at 63-63 with just 1:47 to play. SHC grabbed its first lead since midway through the first half at 66-63 with 50 seconds remaining and clung to a 70-69 lead with 4.4 seconds to go when redshirt freshman guard
Sawyer Glick iced the game with two clutch free throws.

Aaron Niven was pleased to see the way his team answered the challenge presented by Paine over the final minutes of play. "I am very proud of our guys," he said following the game. "They earned this win. We didn't play well, but we found a way to get the victory. They earned this one by the way they practiced all week."

Walter Massey each contributed 10 points. SHC dominated the boards with a 37-22 margin in rebounding as Glick and Massey each tallied double-double nights with 11 and 10 rebounds respectively. Overall, SHC shot an impressive 60.9% (28-46) from the floor and 45.5% (5-11) from 3-point range, but hurt themselves with 18 turnovers against eight steals by the Lions.
Paine put five players into double digits led by Christian Noble's 16 points off a 12-of-16 night at the free throw line. The Lions were 41.1% (23-56) from field and just 15.8% (3-19) in 3-point attempts while losing seven turnovers to just three Badger steals.
The victory snapped a six-game regular season losing skid for the Badgers (2-8, 1-2 SIAC West) who now welcome the Fort Valley State University Wildcats (2-8, 0-3 SIAC East) to the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center on Thursday for a conference contest beginning at 7:30 p.m.
