Box Score The Spring Hill College (SHC) women's basketball team earned a 62-54 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) West Division victory over the visiting Lane College Lady Dragons at the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center on Thursday evening.
The Lady Dragons (2-16, 2-8 SIAC West) held a 19-18 lead with 4 minutes to play in the first half and clung to a 27-25 advantage at halftime, but the Badgers launched an 18-6 run in the 3rd period to build a 43-33 bulge.
The final 10 minutes saw the Badgers maintain a double-digit advantage until the final minute when the Lady Dragons whittled the lead down to seven points at 57-50. Freshman forward
Tiffany Valentine would put out the fire with a 3-point bucket from the top of the key to rebuild a 60-50 margin with 1:09 left to play.
Two Lane layups in the final 10 seconds would cut the score down to 60-54 only to see sophomore SHC guard
Jewel Hill ice the game off two successful free throws with four seconds on the clock.

Jennifer Clark both scored 14 points while Valentine added 12 rebounds for her first career double-double night. Juniors
Camry Johnson and
Leah Washington each tallied 10 points and Johnson led all rebounders with 13 boards for her third double-double effort of the year.
Spring Hill shot 34.6% (18-52) overall and 25% (3-12) from 3-point distance while knocking down 79.3% (23-29) free throws. The Badgers earned a 46-36 victory in rebounding while losing 15 turnovers to two steals by Lane.
Tashara Jones poured in 22 points for Lane as Kyana Johnson contributed 10 points and nine rebounds. The Lady Dragons shot 25.5% (14-55) from the floor and just 14.3% (1-7) in 3-point attempts while sinking only 62.5% (25-40) of their free throw attempts. Lane lost 10 turnovers to two badgers steals.
The Badgers (7-12, 5-5 SIAC West) will next begin a four-game, two-week road swing with an SIAC West Division match at the LeMoyne-Owen College Lady Magicians (9-10, 6-4 SIAC West) at 5:30 p.m. Monday in Memphis, Tenn., at Bruce/Johnson Hall.
