Box Score 2 The Spring Hill College (SHC) softball swept both games halves of Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) doubleheader from the Tuskegee University Tigerettes by the scores of 1-0 and 8-0 on Friday afternoon at Murray Field.
The Tigerettes (8-18, 6-8 SIAC West) held the Badger offense scoreless through eight innings of the first game behind the gutsy pitching of Karisa Foye, but Spring Hill finally ended the game in the bottom of the 9th inning when senior first baseman
Elise deBruler roped a double into left-centerfield with two outs that brought in fellow senior and pinch runner
Taylor Webre from 2nd base. Webre had moved to 2nd base on a sarcifice bunt by junior left fielder
Taylor Lahasky after replacing junior catcher
Samantha Leach who had reached 1st base on a leadoff walk.
Foye took the loss in 8.2 innings and allowed five hits with three walks and six strikeouts while Badger starter
Caroline Sagrera moved to 22-6 on the year in 9 full innings with two hits, three walks and a Badger record 19 strikeouts.
The second game saw Spring Hill erupt for three runs in the 1st inning as Leach brought in a run with a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch and sophomore centerfielder
Jenna Charnock scored off a wild pitch. Lahasky then added a run with a fielder's choice to shortstop that plated senior shortstop
Shea Blanchard. SHC added three more unearned runs in the 4th inning off two hits and two infield errors by Tuskegee. Lahasky led off the 5th inning with a double to right-center and later scored off an infield error and deBruler would again close the game when she scored as Charnock beat out an infield single for the game-ending RBI with two outs.
Sarah Bolotte (6-0) was the winner for SHC with five hits allowed, no walks and a strikeout. Acey Spence took the loss giving up eight hits and two walks with no strikeouts.
For Spring Hill's offense, freshman second baseman
Carmen Byrd had six hits with an RBI on the day while Charnock and senior third baseman
Emma Kittrell each had two hits in the twin bill.
Tuskegee's designated player Lara Miller and left fielder Chante Warner had two hits apiece in the second game.
Spring Hill (31-7, 15-0 SIAC West) will wrap up this three-game home set versus Tuskegee with a single conference game on Saturday beginning at 12 p.m. at Murray Field. Before the game, the Badgers will honor their four Senior Class teammates in the annual Senior Day ceremony.
