Box Score 2 The Spring Hill College (SHC) softball split a non-conference doubleheader versus the University of West Florida (UWF) Lady Argonauts by dropping the first decision 4-2, but bouncing back to win the nightcap in a 6-4 decision on Wednesday afternoon at Murray Field.
Spring Hill took a 1-0 lead over the Lady Argos (11-24) in the 1st inning of the opening game only to see UWF tie the game in the 2nd inning with an RBI-single to right field by centerfielder Emily Pettigrew.
The Badgers retook a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the 2nd inning when second baseman

Elise deBruler with a single. The Lady Argos took a 3-2 lead in the 3rd inning via a two-run, two-out triple by second baseman Meghan Toney and built a 4-2 lead when Lady Argo catcher Kaylan Rowell smacked a leadoff homer to left-center.
Caroline Sagrera took the loss by allowing seven hits with three walks and 11 strikeouts while Becca Taylor (5-5) was the winner with seven hits allowed, two walks and three strikeouts.
In the second game, the Badgers took a 1-0 lead in the 2nd inning as third baseman
Emma Kittrell put an RBI-single into left field with two outs. West Florida answered with a three-run top of 3rd inning highlighted by a two-run triple to left field by Pettigrew who later scored off a wild pitch.
Spring Hill erupted for a five-run bottom of 3rd inning when the first four batters of the frame reached by base hits. UWF put a final unearned run on the board in the 4th inning, but Sagrera (20-6) would not allow a runner past 2nd base over the final three innings. The Badger junior starter surrendered six hits with four walks and eight strikeouts in the victory.
Kalyn Chapman (4-7) took the loss in 2.0 innings with six hits, two walks and three strikeouts.

Pettigrew paced the Lady Argos with three hits and three RBIs while Rowell, Toney and shortstop Kayla Rosario each contributed two hits.
Spring Hill (27-7) will next host the Golden Rams (12-19) of Albany State University in a non-conference doubleheader on Thursday beginning at 1 p.m. at Murray Field.
