Box Score 3 GULF SHORES, Ala. – The Spring Hill College (SHC) softball team saw its nine-game winning streak stopped by LSU-Alexandria (LSUA) in a 6-0 decision in the Championship Game of the Gulf Coast Invitational held on Sunday at the SportsPlex.
Despite the loss to the Generals (16-3), the Badgers enjoyed a superlative weekend by winning six consecutive games to reach the finals of the Gold Bracket in one of the toughest regular season college softball tournaments in the country.
The Badgers began their Sunday bracket run with a 5-0 victory over the Golden Tigers (13-3) of Brenau University. Spring Hill jumped out to a 4-0 lead with two-run tallies in both the 1st and 2nd innings while junior starter

Elise deBruler each collected two hits in the game to pace the Badger offense.
The semi-final contest saw the Badgers in a re-match with the Lindsey Wilson College (LWC) Blue Raiders (12-3) who SHC defeated 8-2 in the tournament's first day of pool play on Friday. The game turned into a pitching duel between Sagrera and Jordan Hood of LWC and Sagrera would blink first by allowing a solo home run to Blue Raider designated player Chelsea Showers in the top of the 6th inning. The Badgers answered back in the bottom of the frame when designated player sophomore
Mary Glass responded with a two-run double to put Spring Hill up 2-1.
Sagrera would nail down the victory in the top of the 7th inning and close out the game with seven strikeouts, no walks and four hits allowed.
In the championship, LSUA touched Sagrera for eight hits and three walks while striking out nine times in route to a 6-0 victory with two-run marks in the 1st, 3rd and 6th innings. SHC 2nd baseman freshman

Spring Hill (16-4) next travels to Jasper, Ala., to play in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Divisional Crossover Tournament on Thursday through Saturday.
