Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 GULF SHORES, Ala. – The Spring Hill College (SHC) softball team continued to roll with two more victories at the annual Gulf Coast Invitational held at the SportsPlex on Saturday by taking a 13-2 victory in the opener over Georgia Gwinnett College and then a 4-1 verdict over Freed-Hardeman University.

SHC need just five innings in the morning contest tallying 5-run frames in both the 1st and 3rd innings against Georgia Gwinnett. Junior starter Caroline Sagrera (11-2) earned the victory with just three hits allowed with three walks and four strikeouts while senior shortstop Shea Blanchard enjoyed a 4-for-4 outing with four RBIs and her third double of the year. Freshman second baseman Carmen Byrd had three hits with two RBIs.

The afternoon game versus Freed-Hardeman was a pitching duel for the first three frames with the Badgers finally scratching across a run against FHU starter Katie Clarke in the bottom of the 4th inning off an RBI-single by sophomore designated player Mary Glass. SHC erupted for a 3-run outburst in the 6th inning as Lauren Stewart provided the fireworks with a bases-loaded, pinch-hit 2-run single to left with two outs.

Sagrera picked up the win with 11 strikeouts and just two hits and a walk surrendered while Blanchard collected two more hits with two runs scored in the nightcap.

Spring Hill (14-3) begins Gold Bracket play in the Gulf Coast Invitational on Sunday versus Brenau University at 11 a.m.
