Box Score 2 JASPER, Ala. – The Spring Hill College (SHC) softball team earned two more victories at the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Divisional Crossover Tournament at Memorial Park on Monday by taking down Fort Valley State University (FVSU) 13-0 and Clark Atlanta University (CAU) 14-0 in two five inning contests.
Badger starter
Caroline Sagrera improved to 15-3 on the year as she recorded 14 strikeouts and allowed just two hits while facing just 17 batters in the complete-game victory over FVSU.
Sophomore centerfielder
Jenna Charnock swiped two bases in the 1st inning to give her 13 steals on the year and a new Badger career record of 52 stolen bases to surpass the record previously held by her head coach
Alison Sellers-Cook who played for SHC from 2000-2003. Charnock was also 3-for-4 in the game with three RBIs while freshman 2nd baseman
Carmen Byrd had a double with two sacrifice flies for three runs-driven-in.
The Badgers set another career record in the second game of the day when senior shortstop
Shea Blanchard collected her 46th double in the 4th inning off an RBI-rope to right field, passing Monica DeSilva (1999-2002).
Junior
Sarah Bolotte (2-0) took home the complete-game win with eight strikeouts with no walks and four hits allowed. Charnock had two more hits and three more RBIs while Byrd added three hits and sophomore
Mary Glass smashed a 3-homer out of centerfield in the 1st inning.
Spring Hill (20-4, 7-0 SIAC) next travels to Jackson, Tenn., on Friday to face Union University (15-9) in a non-conference doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. on Fesmire Field
