Box Score The Spring Hill College (SHC) women's basketball team lost a 64-50 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) West Division decision to the Kentucky State University Thorobrettes on Thursday evening at the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center.
The SIAC West Division leading Thorobrettes (19-4, 14-2 SIAC West) held a slim 26-24 lead at halftime after the Badgers rallied from being behind by as much as 13 points with 4:30 left to play in the half.
KSU built out a double-digit lead early in the 2nd half and then kept SHC at arm's length for most of the final period.
The Badgers shot 34% (16-47) from the floor and 27.3% (3-11) from 3-point distance, but no Badger player cracked the double-digit scoring barrier. SHC lost 15 turnovers to nine KSU steals.
Brieona Warner led all scorers by a wide margin scoring 31 points as the Thorobrettes shot 48.2% (27-56) from the floor and 28.6% (2-7) in 3-point attempts. KSU edged out a 37-38 advantage in rebounding, but lost 21 turnovers to seven Badger steals.
The Badgers (12-12, 9-7 SIAC West) will host the LeMoyne-Owen College Lady Magicians (16-7, 12-4 SIAC West) on Saturday afternoon beginning at 2 p.m. in the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center. Spring Hill encourages all fans to wear pink to the game to show support for the fight against Breast Cancer in the team's annual Think Pink! Night in support of the Play4Kay Breast Cancer Fund.
