Box Score The Spring Hill College (SHC) men's basketball team opened the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) portion of its schedule with a 53-48 West Division loss to the Tuskegee University Golden Tigers on Thursday night at the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center.

The Golden Tigers (5-3; 1-0 SIAC West) and the Badgers were knotted at 22 going into the halftime locker rooms in a defense-dominated first half that saw Tuskegee hitting just 29.6% (8-27) of their shots and the Badgers being successful on 40.9% (9-22) of their attempts.

With under 10 minutes to play Tuskegee built a 37-31 lead, but Spring Hill answered back to cut the deficit to a single point at 37-36 when senior guard Jarrett Calhoun completed a "hoop-and-the-harm" 3-point play at 6:27.

Camden Foster immediately responded with a 3-point bucket on the other at 6:15. Calhoun was successful on two free throws at 5:25 to keep the Badgers within two points at 40-38, but a seven-point run by the Tigers put the Badgers in a 47-38 hole with just 2:39 remaining.

Back-to-back 3-pointers by redshirt freshman Sawyer Glick and a layup by Calhoun brought the Badgers back to within 47-46 with 38 seconds left on the clock, but six consecutive free throws by the Tigers sealed the victory for the visitors.

Glick scored a game-high 14 points while junior center Dejan Stefanovic added 12 points. Spring Hill shot 41.5% (17-41) from the floor and 33.3% (2-6) from 3-point distance while completing 75% (12-16) of their free throws. Turnovers haunted the Badgers as they fumbled the ball away 21 times against nine Tuskegee steals. Under the baskets, Spring Hill won the rebounding battle 36-30.

The Tigers were paced by Foster with 13 points as Tuskegee shot 30.2% (16-53) from the floor and 27.3% (6-22) from behind the 3-point arc. Spring Hill took away just one steal as Tuskegee lost the ball five times.

The Badgers (1-6; 0-1 SIAC West) will now take a week off for final examinations before welcoming SIAC opponent the Bears of Miles College (3-2; 1-0 SIAC West) to the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center on Monday, December 14, at 7:30 p.m.
