ORLANDO, Fla. – The Spring Hill College (SHC) bowling teams competed in the annual University of Central Florida Classic tournament on Saturday and Sunday.
Ending Day 1 of the individual series for the women,
Adriana Sheck from Germantown, Md., made the All-Tournament team, placing second with a total pin fall of 1168 over six games to average 195.
Miranda Singer from Columbus, Ohio, also qualified for the All-Tournament team with a total pin fall of 1154 over six games to average 192 to place third.
Leading the men's team in individual play, freshman
Zachary Griffin from Pompano Beach, Fla., earned All-Tournament recognition with a total pin fall of 1222 over six games to average 203 to place fourth.
On Sunday, the Badgers bowled 20 Baker games as the women's varsity team was seeded third and beat Florida State University (FSU) in best a 2-out-of-3 Baker competition. The Badgers then went on to bowl perennial power Webber International University (WIU) for the championship and shutout the Warriors, sweeping the championship round 2-0.
The women's junior varsity squad was seeded second in its bracket after Baker play and bowled FSU for the championship where they triumphed 2-0 to bring the 1st place trophy back home to Mobile.
The men's varsity team was seeded third after the Baker rounds and met Florida State University on Sunday. The Badgers swept FSU beating the Seminoles 2-0 in match play. SHC then competed against WIU for the championship, but the Warriors pulled ahead and triumphed over the Badgers to take first place in the tournament.
Spring Hill will next roll on Saturday at the SWIBC II hosted by the University of Arkansas at Ozark Lanes in Fayetteville, Ark.
