Box Score FRANKFORT, Ky. – The Spring Hill College (SHC) men's basketball team rallied late to pull off a 51-59 overtime victory at Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) foe Kentucky State University on Thursday night at the Exum Center.
The Badgers grabbed a fast 6-0 lead over the Thorobreds (4-10, 4-5 SIAC West), but KSU responded to take an 8-6 lead off an Ivan Hooker layup with 11:30 on the 1st half clock.
By halftime the KSU cushion had grown to 30-19 and then out to 41-27 early in the 2nd half, but the Badgers rallied to make it a 43-37 deficit with 8:36 to play.

James Clarke brought Spring Hill within a 51-47 margin at 1:17 left to play while two free throws at 36 seconds by senior SHC guard
Robert Drummond made it a 51-49 contest. A missed free throw by KSU resulted in a missed jumper by junior Badger guard

DeVaughn Hardrick cleaned up for a put-back layup to tie the game at 51-51 with 24 seconds showing. Thorobred Dorian Jordan missed the mark on a jumper from the right elbow at the buzzer as the teams went to overtime.
Two more free throws by Dummond staked SHC to a 58-55 lead with 2 minutes to play in the extra period. A Clarke layup with 37 seconds left increased the Badger lead to 60-56, but Malcolm Smith drained a 3-pointer at the 26-second mark to pull the Thorobreds to 60-59.
Clarke dropped in 1-of-2 free throws at 21 seconds as the Thorobreds then threw the ball away on their trip down the court. Drummond failed to convert on a free throw attempt at four seconds, but two final shots by KSU missed the mark as SHC held on for the come-from-behind victory.

Wesley Pietri had 13 points for SHC as sophomore center
Dejan Stefanovic added 12 points and Hardrick also pitched in 10 points. Spring Hill shot 40.7% (22-54) from the floor including 29.4% (5-17) in their 3-point attempts. SHC controlled the boards with a 43-34 edge in rebounding, but lost 17 turnovers to 12 KSU steals.
The Thorobreds shot 38.9% (21-54) overall and 40% (8-20) in 3-point shooting while losing 15 turnovers to nine Badger steals. Ulysses Thomas III scored a game-high 18 points for KSU.
Spring Hill (6-12, 5-4 SIAC West) will be back on the road on Saturday for a 4 p.m. game at the Lane College Dragons (6-7, 5-2 SIAC West) at J.F. Lane Gymnasium in Jackson, Tenn.
