Box Score The Spring Hill College (SHC) women's basketball team lost a Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) game to the Albany State University (ASU) Golden Rams by the score of 54-46 on Monday evening at the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center.

The Golden Rams (4-8, 3-2 SIAC East) held a 25-20 lead at the intermission only to see the Badgers rally out the locker room to take a 28-25 lead four minutes into the 2nd half.

Spring Hill and ASU then traded leads for the next six minutes until the Rams grabbed a five-point lead at 37-32 with 7:22 left in the game. SHC twice got within two points over the final minutes, but could not find the magic bullet to stop the ASU offense as the Rams dropped in their final six free throws to secure the win.

The Badgers shot 40.4% (19-47) on the night, but suffered a 14.3% (2-14) effort from 3-point distance and lost 31 turnovers to 14 ASU steals. Senior forward Twarner Witherspoon led SHC in both scoring and rebounds with 10 points and eight boards as the Badgers earned a 38-31 victory in rebounding.

ASU completed 37.3% (19-51) of their shots including 16.7% (1-6) of their 3-point attempts with Mecca Frost leading the way by scoring 14 points. Artisha Holston added 11 points with eight rebounds while Jillian Anderson came off the bench to contribute 10 points to the Golden Ram cause. ASU committed 24 turnovers as the Badgers took away 11 steals.

Spring Hill (5-7, 2-2 SIAC West) now travels to Orangeburg, S.C. on Thursday to face the Claflin University Panthers (9-3, 3-1 SIAC East) in an inter-divisional game in Tullis Arena beginning at 5:30 p.m. (Eastern).
