Kathy F. Smith '86
Nominated by the Hall of Fame Nominating Committee

Kathy Smith, a 6'4'' center from LeFlore High School in Mobile, was recruited by former SHC women's basketball coach and fellow Hall of Fame member Jeannie Milling. While at Spring Hill, Kathy averaged 21 points per game and she was named to the All-Country team for three years and to the Regional All-Tournament Team for four years.
During her first Badger season, Kathy led her teammates to the championship of the Eastern Division of NAIA District 30 - earning All-Conference and All-District honors. Kathy was also devoted to her studies, maintaining a 3.0 grade point average while managing to hold records for most blocked shots in a game, a season, and a career; most field goals scored; the highest rebounding average; and the most points scored in a career. She was ranked nationally for her scoring average.

During her senior year, Kathy was injured and underwent knee surgery. Although doctors told her she would never play again, she went on to shatter five SHC scoring records.

Kathy lives in Birmingham, Alabama. She is employed by Brighthouse Networks as a Business Solutions Technical Analyst, where she continues to inspire and mentor youth on the value of education and the use of technology to change the world. Kathy is both a writer and public speaker. She thoroughly enjoys watching as women's basketball evolves from a sport that once drew only a handful of spectators to one that consistently draws sell out crowds.

John F. Golden '63
Nominated by Eugenia Foster '66

John Golden was captain of the golf team for both his junior and senior year and maintained the lowest stroke average on the team. While still a junior at Spring Hill, John qualified and made the cut in the "Sertoma Open" PGA Tournament in Mobile. John excelled in other areas of Spring Hill life as well. He served as president of his class all four years, was a member of the Phi Kappa Theta fraternity, and graduated 2nd Lieutenant US Army as a member of the ROTC on campus. Robert "Rob" E. Brown, Jr.  '90
Nominated by Coach Frank Sims

Rob Brown played on the Badger Baseball team as both a left-handed pitcher and a first baseman. During his time at Spring Hill College, Rob was unanimously named All-Conference for three years. Rob was not only the number one pitcher on the team, but he was also one of the strongest hitters. Coach Sims calls him "one of the best all around players in the GCAC during his time at SHC (1985-1989)."

Rob pitched the toughest games for the Badgers, often pitching multiple times a week. It was not unheard of for him to pitch in a game on Saturday, then again on Tuesday. While at Spring Hill College, Rob boasted 23 wins and 14 losses.  He was .295 career hitter, and his ERA was 3.50. Rob struck out 130 batters in his career.

Rob was not only a strong competitor, but he was a strong leader as well. Rob served as team captain for three years while playing on the Badgers Baseball team.

After graduating from Spring Hill, Rob spent three summers with the Charleston-Mattoon Twins of the Eastern Illinois League (1994-95), winning two titles as player-manager. Rob and his wife, Beth, live in St. Louis, Missouri with their four-year-old son, Wyatt.
