Box Score The Spring Hill College (SHC) men's basketball team lost a 78-66 non-conference decision to the University of West Florida Argonauts on Saturday evening at the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center.
The Argos (3-0) held a 35-36 lead after the first half of play and built out as much as a 20-point bulge at 51-31 with 14 minutes to play. SHC rallied to cut the deficit down to nine points at 62-53 with 4:31 left, but could get no closer as the Argonauts took home the victory.
Junior guard
DeVaughn Hardrick of Selma, Ala., paced the Badgers with 18 points as the home team shot 41.4% (24-58) overall and just 15% (3-20) from 3-point distance. Spring Hill committed just seven turnovers against four steals, but they were out-rebounded by the Argos in a 35-24 margin.
UWF put five players in double figures with Lendward Griffin leading the way at 17 points and Demetrius Moore recorded 14 points and 11 rebounds. The Argos made 69.8% (30-43) of their shots including 50% (5-10) in 3-point attempts. The Badgers forced the visitors into 19 turnovers off nine steals.
Spring Hill (0-5) will next visit the University of West Florida return match on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
