Spring Hill College Athletics

Spafford was a three-year member of the SHC football team who developed into one of Spring Hill’s top players. A captain in his senior year, Spafford was known as an easy-going young man on campus but he became a raging, aggressive center when he donned the football pads, who loomed mountainously on defense. The Mobile High product, as a collegiate junior and senior, merited an All-Dixie selection. A veritable mountain on defense, he spent quite a bit of his time in the opponent’s backfield.
