Greg Bernbrock finished his collegiate career at Spring Hill with 1,039 points, the fourth most in school history when he graduated. He was named a Catholic Collegiate All-American in 1963 and was the recipient of the S.J. Mattei Award as Spring Hill’s outstanding athlete of 1963. After graduation, Bernbrock became an assistant basketball coach at LSU for the legendary Press Maravich from 1964-72. From 1968-71, the Tigers produced three NBA/ABA draft picks and six All-Southeastern Conference (SEC) players. Bernbrock also coached the freshman team to a 50-21 record in five seasons. His 1967 team was viewed as the best in the nation.
