After a standout career as a college softball player at crosstown rival University of Mobile, Coach Coby Mackin was selected to become the first head coach in Spring Hill College Softball program history. Mackin led the Badgers for eight seasons from the inaugural season in 1998 through 2005. She led the Badgers to an amazing 43-17 record in their first season. The second season was even better, as the Badgers won the Gulf Coast Conference Championship on the way to a third-place finish in the NAIA National Tournament. The Badgers would make three national tournament appearances in Mackin’s eight seasons on The Hill and were consistently nationally ranked. She finished her career with a 289-138-4 record, coached 10 All Americans, 25 All-Region and 48 All-Conference student- athletes. Mackin also served as both Athletic Director and Assistant Athletic Director during her time at Spring Hill.
