Spring Hill College Athletics

For four years, Ambrose was one of the mainstays of the Badger baseball team. The big right fielder was known in southern circles as very good fielder with a strong accurate throwing arm and a very good bat. The tall and lanky lefty had great speed on the base paths and was known for extra base hits, but “Brose” was also a very good bunter. He had the ability to use it for a base hit or to sacrifice and move the runner up. He was a member of the dominant Badger baseball teams of the 1920’s. Hertzog went on to earn his degree in Medicine from Tulane University, becoming a pioneer in photomicrography while teaching at LSU and Tulane. He also earned national acclaim for his research in hematology and pathology.
