A freshman second baseman from Mt. Vernon, Ala., Carmen Byrd hit .727 (8-for-11) with four RBIs, eight runs and two stolen bases in a three-game series at Lane College. For the year he is hitting .390 (39-for-100) with a double, six triples and 15 RBIs. She has also collected nine stolen bases while scoring 27 runs.
