Mason, a sophomore from Daphne, Ala., won the javelin event at the University of Southern Mississippi (USM) Invitational over the weekend with a distance of 39.38 meters (129.2 feet) at Bell Track & Field Stadium in Hattiesburg. She also competed in the 100-meter hurdles, high jump, and long jump events.
